What are the functions of the oil conservator and the moisture absorber of the power transformer?
Large and medium-sized transformers are equipped with oil conservators. On the one hand, the oil conservator is used to adjust the volume change of the transformer oil caused by temperature changes; on the other hand, it reduces the contact area between the transformer oil and the atmosphere and reduces moisture The degree to which (moisture) and oxygen enter the transformer oil, thereby slowing the deterioration of the oil. When a fault occurs, the heat will vaporize the transformer oil, triggering the gas relay to send an alarm signal or cut off the power supply. If it is a serious accident, a large amount of transformer oil will be vaporized, and the oil and gas will break through the sealing glass of the safety air duct orifice and rush out of the transformer tank to prevent the tank from bursting.
The moisture absorber of the power transformer is to keep the atmosphere entering the oil conservator dry when the oil in the transformer changes with the temperature and volume. If the moisture absorber uses color-changing silica gel to absorb moisture, when the color of the silica gel changes from blue to red, the silica gel should be replaced in time or dried to return to blue. The moisture absorption effect of silica gel is related to the dryness of silica gel, air humidity, ambient temperature, etc.
Capsule-type and diaphragm-type oil conservators can prevent direct contact between oil and air, and prevent external moisture and oxygen from entering the dry transformer oil. However, in addition to still having a small amount of air permeability, the life of the rubber diaphragm is often a concern. In order to eliminate air permeability and people’s concerns about the life of the capsule, a corrugated expansion oil conservator made of stainless steel sheets has appeared. The corrugated expansion oil conservator not only solves the problem of the life of the capsule, but also completely eliminates the external moisture and the transformer during operation. The possibility of oxygen entering the transformer oil through the oil conservator.
In order to prevent the capsules or external oil type corrugated expanders from internally storing moisture during long-term operation, the air entering these power transformer oil conservators should also be dried through a moisture absorber.
